Betting against Duke is usually a good idea in basketball, since they are almost always overrated by the betting public, but in this case, I think they have a valuable line. They have struggled against Florida State in recent years, but that has very little to do with this season. Those struggles are factored into the line today, though, and that makes it more valuable than it should be.

Another winning night for us! We hit a slump in the first few days of the month, but we've come roaring back!

There's not a whole lot going on today, but there should be some good picks for tomorrow. We do have one small bet on an NFL future today.

To recap what I posted on December 31st:

New England just went 16-0 in the regular season for the first time ever, and they look unstoppable. Everyone seems to think they are a lock for the Superbowl. Still, they got very lucky in several games, against far inferior competition to who they'll face in the playoffs. Not to take anything away from their accomplishment, but their odds of making it to the Superbowl, while pretty decent, are less than the 70-75% chance that their odds indicate. My data puts their chances at about 45-50%.

Since we can't lay New England, we'll do the next best thing, and bet on the three most likely teams to win in their place, Indianapolis, San Diego, and Jacksonville. I already placed bets on the first two on December 31st. Today, we round it out by putting a bit of money on Jacksonville.

Great night again! I think we beat our record last night for basketball. Last night Charlotte beat Clemson, as I predicted, at 13.40 odds. I'll have to go back and check last year, but I think our previous best in basketball was Virginia Tech over UNC at 13.10 odds.

In any case, good pick, and nice profit. We came very close to going 3 for 3, and getting over $500 profit on the night, but alas, Arizona State took it to overtime, and won. Oh well. I think I have a few good ones for tonight.

Should be a good game tonight. Ohio State is no pushover, and though I think LSU is by far the best team in the country, they have shown moments of weakness this season as well.

Still, the data says that LSU's chances of winning are higher than their odds suggest, so that makes them a valuable pick. Just because a pick is valuable doesn't mean it's going to go our way (see Pittsburgh yesterday), but it puts us in a position to always profit in the long term.

Another winning day yesterday! I came very close to picking Michigan to win outright at more than 5 to 1 odds. I guess I should have.

Tonight's game is tricky, and it could go either way, but I think it will be a close one. Also, a small bet on a hot team to make the Superbowl at very nice odds.
